More Than a Filing — A Financial Partner

A business return isn’t a form to fill; it’s a set of decisions — depreciation method, officer compensation, distributions vs. salary, what carries forward. Get them wrong and you overpay quietly, year after year.

We prepare business and personal returns under one roof, so your K-1 flows straight into your 1040 without anything falling through the cracks. And because we also handle bookkeeping and entity formation, we can tell you when a structure change — like an S-Corp election — would actually save you money.

Deadlines we track for you: March 15 for partnerships & S-Corps, April 15 for C-Corps, May 15 for the Texas franchise report — extensions filed on request.

Business Tax Returns — Frequently Asked Questions

What Dallas business owners ask us most.

When are business tax returns due?
Partnership (1065) and S-Corp (1120-S) returns are due March 15; C-Corp (1120) returns are due April 15. The Texas franchise tax report is due May 15. If a deadline lands on a weekend or holiday, it moves to the next business day. Behind already? We can file an extension and prior-year returns — the sooner you act, the smaller the penalties.
My LLC is just me. Do I need a separate business return?
Usually not. A single-member LLC is a “disregarded entity” by default — its income goes on Schedule C of your personal return (starts at $295 with us). But if your LLC elected S-Corp status, it files its own Form 1120-S. Not sure what you elected? Bring your paperwork and we’ll check in minutes.
What’s a K-1 and why do my partners keep asking for it?
Schedule K-1 reports each owner’s share of business profit or loss, and every partner or shareholder needs one to file their personal return. When the business return is late, every owner’s personal return is stuck too. We prepare K-1s with every 1065 and 1120-S — and can prepare the owners’ personal returns at the same time.
My books are a mess. Can you still do my return?
Yes — this is one of the most common situations we see. Our bookkeeping cleanup service ($395) turns bank statements and receipts into a tax-ready profit & loss and balance sheet. If you’d rather never face a shoebox again, our monthly bookkeeping plans keep you ready year-round.
Do I owe Texas franchise tax?
Most small businesses owe $0 because revenue falls under the no-tax-due threshold — but many still have a filing obligation with the Texas Comptroller, and missing it can cost your LLC its good standing. We confirm your filing requirement as part of every business return.
Would an S-Corp election save me money?
If your business consistently nets a healthy profit, an S-Corp election can reduce self-employment taxes by splitting income into salary and distributions. It’s not free — it adds payroll and a separate return — so the answer depends on your actual numbers, which we can run for you in a free consultation.
What should I bring to my business tax appointment?
Your profit & loss statement and balance sheet (or bank/credit card statements), last year’s return, your EIN letter, any 1099s issued or received, payroll reports if you have employees, and asset purchase details. Missing pieces? Bring what you have — we’ll build the rest.
